Manual HP LTO Tape Removal
October 4, 2007Who hasn’t run across this? A stuck LTO tape in a HP Ultrium drive that just won’t come out. Well, maybe a lot of you, but I know I have and would love to have had this document when I was in that bind. This was passed on to me by one of my fellow engineers.
We used a screwdriver for ours - Dell couldn’t get the tape out the drive and gave us a new drive. We wouldn’t let them take the drive with the tape in it. They gave us permission to take the tape out in any manner we liked - they didn’t care about the state of the drive afterwards - a technicians dream…unfortunately the customer wanted to try it themselves
